Little London - New condominium in Birmingham, MI
67Birmingham is a city in Oakland County in the metro Detroit Area. Its pedestrian-friendly downtown and the two movie theatres make it stand out from the rest of the suburbs.
Downtown Birmingham has a very distinct layout compared to other nearby downtowns. Its winding streets make it very appealing for people to walk "around" the city without walking into an "dead-end" area. The numerous historic public building with open plazas serve as landmarks for the city. The many narrow alleys take you to secret plazas hidden among the buildings. The Shine Park in the heart of downtown is a place for recreation and outdoor concerts.
This downtown has been growing "up" in the the past decade. Many single or doube storey buildings have been replaced by taller buildings. The higher density in the downtown makes it more like an European style town. The increasing number of condominium brings in more population. With shops at the street level, these buildings actually make the downtown more "walkable". This shop-house approach is especially appropriate for Birmingham to grow.
It seems that there is still plenty of rooms for the city to expand. A lot of parking lots could be replaced by well-designed parking structures. This "suburb-city" development is quite successful is making in a vibrant day-and-night downtown.
It is not London, it's Downtown Birmingham.
The wavy shape of the building reminds me of the Regent Street in London.
Neo-classicism is especially appropriate for Downtown Birmingham.

Nice pictures of a quality building. Inside shots would be of interest also.
